"I write songs faster than I can record them….lyrics are important to me. I change direction with each piece of work and rather than submit to any trends, I create music that I like first and foremost. Music that keeps me interested, that is the secret to longevity I think."

For David Gergen it started at 9 years old. "Rock and roll got its hooks in me" he says. It was the Beatles and KISS at first. And the variety of music in his folk’s record collection like Ray Charles, Waylon Jennings, Elvis and The Carpenters. But it wasn’t until he was infected by rock and roll that he really knew what he wanted to do with his life.

At first it was buy a guitar, learn the blues. He listened to all of the old greats. Robert Johnson and Elmore James were a couple favorites. He bought a 4 track recorder and started layering sounds and learning how to arrange music. David started a few bands. Each time a band broke up he would go back to the recorder and start writing and recording music. "I like the fact that I can create entire pieces of music on my own, as a painter would do" he says. "It’s a true representation of my musical soul." He has been influenced by  many people. Some of the main ones are Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Zep, Marley, Bowie, Queen, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Prince, Radiohead, Wilco.
